RadPigeon keeps a small data footprint. This page explains, in plain language, what we collect and what control you have.
Who is responsible
The data controller is Barbara Klaudel, who publishes RadPigeon.

A postal address is available on request to any person or authority with a legitimate legal interest.
The short version
- No advertising, no ad networks, no third-party trackers. We never sell or share your data.
- Our analytics set no cookies and send nothing to Google or any other analytics company.
- Analytics run on our own server, in the European Union.
- We do not build visitor profiles and we do not measure returning visitors.
- You can switch analytics off for yourself here: analytics opt-out.
Analytics
We use Umami, an open-source analytics tool we host ourselves in the EU. No third party receives this data.
What we record per page view: the page you viewed, the page you arrived from, your browser, operating system, device type, and your country (not your city). We also record which article links, filters, system pages and sign-up buttons were used — from a fixed list of pre-defined labels, never free text you typed.
What we do not do: no cookies, no session recording, no heatmaps, no cross-site tracking, no advertising, no profiling.
About IP addresses. To count visits and determine your country, our server briefly sees your IP address. Our analytics converts it, together with your browser type, into an irreversible code used to group the pages of a single visit. That code cannot be turned back into an IP address, never leaves our database, and is regenerated at least once a month. We do not use it to recognise returning visitors, and we do not produce reports on returning visitors, retention, or individual journeys. Aggregate figures are all we look at.
Legal basis: our legitimate interest (Art. 6(1)(f) GDPR) in understanding, in aggregate, which stories and features are useful. You may object at any time, or simply switch analytics off at analytics opt-out.
Retention: 13 months.
This preference is stored in this browser only. It won’t follow you to another device or browser, and it will reset if you clear site data for RadPigeon.
The weekly digest
If you subscribe, we store your email address and whether you have confirmed it. Signing up uses double opt-in: you only start receiving the digest after you click the confirmation link.
- Emails are delivered through Resend, which processes your address on our behalf.
- Legal basis: your consent (Art. 6(1)(a) GDPR).
- Retention: unsubscribing, via the link in every email, deletes your address from our records.
- We use your email for nothing but the digest, and we never sell or share subscriber lists.
The contact form
Your name, email address and message are relayed to a private inbox so we can read and reply. Your message is not published, and your email is used only to respond to you. Legal basis: our legitimate interest in answering people who write to us.
Storage on your device
We use no cookies for analytics, advertising or tracking, which is why there is no cookie banner. RadPigeon embeds no third-party video or webinar players, so no outside party can set anything on your device through us.
What is stored is first-party, functional, and there because you asked for it:

To be precise about one thing: your browserremembers your last visit, locally, for the “welcome back” message. That happens entirely on your device. It is not sent to us, and our analytics still cannot tell whether you have been here before.

Server logs and abuse prevention
Our servers process standard request information, and we rate-limit the subscribe and contact forms by IP address to prevent abuse. Legal basis: our legitimate interest in keeping the service running and secure. We do not use this to build profiles of visitors.
Who else sees your data
We do not sell, rent or trade your data, and we do not share it with advertisers or data brokers.
Service providers acting on our instructions: Railway (website and analytics hosting, EU region), Resend (digest delivery), Cloudflare (DNS and email forwarding).
We may disclose data where legally required to do so.
Your rights
You may access, correct, erase, restrict, object to, or port your data, and withdraw consent where processing is based on it. Write to [email protected] and we will respond within one month.
One honest note: our analytics data holds no name, email address or account identifier, so we are generally unable to locate “your” analytics records in order to show or delete them (Art. 11 GDPR). This is a consequence of collecting less, not a way of avoiding your rights. Your subscriber data is linked to your email address and we can act on it immediately — and unsubscribing removes it at once.

Readers outside the EU
We apply the same standard to everyone. We do not sell or share personal information and we do not engage in cross-context behavioural advertising. RadPigeon is a news publication: we handle no protected health information and have no relationship with any patient.
Children
RadPigeon is intended for imaging professionals. It is not directed at anyone under 16.
Changes
We may update this policy as RadPigeon evolves. Material changes will be reflected in the date above.
