Tight High-Convexity Sulci on MRI Linked to Cognitive Decline in Older Adults
Radiology1w ago
Tight high-convexity sulci (THC) on MRI predicted cognitive decline in 2133 older adults followed for 5–7y (OR 2.95, 95%CI 1.95–4.45). Complete DESH was rare (1.7%), while incomplete DESH was frequent (46.3%).
- Prospective cohort of 2133 adults aged ≥65 years; complete DESH present in 1.7%, incomplete DESH in 46.3%.
- Baseline THC was associated with cognitive decline in cognitively normal participants (OR 2.95, 95% CI 1.95–4.45; P<.001) and in a combined cohort (OR 2.87, 95% CI 1.96–4.21; P<.001).
- No significant association between any DESH feature combination and baseline cognitive impairment.
