Semi-automated quantification of cerebral venous outflow on CTA aligns with visual scores in acute stroke
European radiologyyesterday
In 242 acute stroke patients, semi-automated quantitative cerebral venous attenuation on routine CTA correlated strongly with visual outflow scores (cortical ρ=0.72–0.77, AUC 0.81–0.95) and captured additional information beyond ordinal grading.
- Deep venous correlations were moderate but improved substantially in proximal occlusions.
- Results were consistent across centers and robust to arterial normalization.
- The method provides a scalable imaging biomarker directly applicable to routine stroke CT workflows.
