PE-RADS: ACR launches first standardized reporting system for pulmonary embolism imaging

The American College of Radiology introduced PE-RADS, the first standardized reporting framework for CT and MR angiography of pulmonary embolism. Using a 0-4 grading scale for clot location and right-heart findings, it aims to standardize terminology and guide patient care.

Developed by the ACR and six other medical societies, published in Radiology.
The 0-4 scale incorporates right-heart findings and includes modifiers for limited image quality and non-PE causes of pulmonary artery abnormalities.
Designed for both CT and MR angiography, aligned with existing guidelines, and intended to standardize communication and support future research.
