Morphologic imaging subtypes of pancreatic acinar cell carcinoma linked to recurrence risk
European radiologyyesterday
Infiltrative pancreatic acinar cell carcinoma (Type 3) and larger tumor size independently predicted recurrence after curative resection (HR 7.7, 95% CI 1.1-53.6; HR 1.7 per cm, 95% CI 1.2-2.3). Three CT/MRI subtypes identified.
- Type 1 tumors were larger (median 6.3 cm) and more often showed venous thrombosis (31.6%) and lobulated architecture (78.9%) than Type 2 and 3.
- Overall, marked diffusion restriction was present in 76.7% and minimal intratumoral necrosis in 80.6% of cases.
- Multicenter retrospective study of 36 patients; recurrence analysis in 28 who underwent curative resection.
