Automated CT subtraction tool speeds up intracranial hemorrhage reads and boosts radiologist confidence
AJNR. American journal of neuroradiology2d ago
In a study of 201 head CT pairs, an automated registration and subtraction tool (NeuroAlign CT) cut read time (71 vs 98 sec, p<0.0001) and improved accuracy for detecting worsening intracranial hemorrhage (92.7% vs 80.0%, p=0.046) among three neuroradiologists.
- Reader confidence increased significantly with the tool; the rate of 'very high confidence' rose from 59.7% to 81.1% (p<0.001).
- Overall accuracy for all cases (increase, no change, decrease) was not significantly different between the two methods (p=0.25).
