Survey of UK Radiographer Reporting Alumni: 89% Currently Reporting, Attrition to Management Roles Noted

Radiology education & curriculum (PubMed)2d ago

In a survey of 82 UK radiographer reporting programme alumni, 97.6% went on to report after qualification, but only 89% were currently reporting due to mobility into management and leadership roles. Most worked as advanced practitioners (50%) at NHS band 7 (70%).

  • Cross-sectional survey of 82 alumni from a single UK institution; 45% qualified between 2016 and 2020, mean age 31–35 years, 43% held a postgraduate certificate.
  • Attrition of reporting staff to leadership/management roles was a key finding, with 89% currently reporting despite 97.6% initially doing so; no external validation of reporting quality.
  • Single-centre, self-reported design limits generalizability; response bias possible.
