TACE boosts surgery eligibility and doubles 5-year survival in early locally advanced cervical cancer

Journal of Vascular and Interventional Radiology (JVIR)2d ago

In stage IB3/IIA2 cervical cancer, TACE pre-treatment achieved 77.9% resectability and significantly improved 5-year survival (69.7% vs 41.0% with surgery alone, P<0.05). No survival benefit was seen when adding TACE before chemoradiation for stage IIB/IIIA disease.

  • Single-center retrospective study of 187 patients with LACC (2011–2019).
  • TACE reduced operative time, intraoperative bleeding, and length of stay (all P<0.05).
  • Limited by retrospective design, small subgroups, and single-center data.
