Only 65% of Centers Offer Both IV Thrombolysis and Thrombectomy for Pediatric AIS: Global Survey
Radiology AI literature (PubMed)Jun 12
A global survey of 103 stroke providers found that while 88% manage pediatric AIS, only 65% offer both IV thrombolysis and thrombectomy. CT/CTA was most common first-line imaging (34%), but perfusion and AI tools were underutilized.
- International survey (n=103); 91 (88%) manage pediatric acute ischemic stroke; anonymous, voluntary, multiple respondents per institution allowed.
- Posterior circulation thrombectomy was available at only 45% of centers; pediatric neurologists were the most common decision-makers for thrombolysis (38%).
- Limitation: Survey-based, self-reported data with potential response bias; does not validate clinical outcomes or reflect all global centers.
