MR-guided microwave ablation of liver tumors achieves 95.8% technical success, with adjacent vessels raising recurrence risk
European Radiology1w ago
In a single-center study of 48 liver lesions, MR-guided microwave ablation had 95.8% technical success and 8.5% local recurrence. Adjacent vascular structures were the only factor linked to higher recurrence (p=0.019). No recurrence in lesions <20 mm.
- Single-center retrospective study of prospectively enrolled patients; 40 patients, 48 lesions, median follow-up 21 months.
- One peri-procedural complication (CIRSE grade 3, 2.5%).
- All recurrences occurred with system 1, but no significant difference vs system 2 (p=0.173).
Single-center retrospective design; limited statistical power to compare ablation systems; no external validation.
