Persistent intercruciate septum: a normal knee variant not to overcall
Dr Christoph Agten (YouTube)4d ago
Persistent intercruciate septum is a benign embryological band between ACL and PCL, seen as a low-signal structure on MRI. Recognize it to avoid mistaking for a displaced meniscal fragment or anomalous vessel.
- It is a normal variant, a remnant of the embryological intercondylar septum.
- On MRI, it appears as a distinct low-signal band extending from the ACL origin to the PCL insertion.
- Do not confuse it with a displaced meniscal fragment or an anomalous vessel.
