LearningRadiology: Enchondroma Imaging Features and Differential Diagnosis
LearningRadiologyApr 9
Enchondroma is a benign cartilage tumor of bone, often found incidentally. Classic radiograph shows a well-defined lucent lesion with rings-and-arcs calcification. Key differential is low-grade chondrosarcoma.
- Most common in tubular bones of the hands and feet, but can occur anywhere.
- MRI shows lobulated, T2-hyperintense cartilage matrix with septal enhancement.
- Differentiation from chondrosarcoma requires attention to size, cortical involvement, and pain.
