Cardiac MRI Enhances PREVENT Equations for 10-Year Heart Failure Risk Prediction
Radiology (RSNA)4w ago
Adding cardiac MRI parameters to the PREVENT equations improved 10-year heart failure risk prediction, raising C-index from 0.760 to 0.821 in the test set (Δ0.061, P=.007), with sex-specific contributions from LA and LV function.
- Secondary analysis of prospective UK Biobank cohort with 39,069 participants, split 70/30 training/test; 16 cardiac MRI variables selected via LASSO added to the PREVENT equations.
- In men, LA ejection fraction had the largest impact (ΔC-index 0.022); in women, LV ejection fraction (Δ0.011) and strain parameters contributed most.
- Limitation: single cohort, no external validation; model performance may not generalize beyond UK Biobank volunteers.
